What caused World War II to begin?
What were the causes of World War II? World War Two began in September 1939 when Britain and France declared war on Germany following Germany's invasion of Poland. Although the outbreak of war was triggered by Germany's invasion of Poland, I believe the causes of the war are more complex. Things such as the Treaty of Versailles. The treaty of Versailles stated that germany must admit to starting World War One, and that they must also pay a fine of $33 billion, as well as land taken away from Germany, which made Germany really mad. As soon as Adolf Hitler took power he immediately began building up his army and manufacturing tanks and war planes. Although Hitler did this it violated the treaty of Versailles which forbade Germany from building a strong army. The policy of letting Hitler do what he wanted is called appeasement. Hitler soon allied himself with Benito Mussolini, Benito Mussolini is the fascist dictator of Italy. Later, the two made a pact with imperial Japan, the three were known as the axis powers. All three countries took over others, Japan took over parts of china, Italy invaded Ethiopia and Germany annexed Austria. When Germany attacked Poland on September 1, 1939 thats when Great Britain and France finally declared war, that was the beginning of World War II in Europe. Then the U.S ended all trade with Japan in which they replied by bombing american ships, the next day the U.S declared war on Japan and Germany and Italy declared war on the U.S. These are the main causes why World War II began.
